Väisänen jne. (=etc.) is an Oulu-based organic boogie outfit, comprised of Väisänen (vocals and guitar) and Alex Hämäläinen (double bass). Penned by Väisänen, their songs are singular, idiosyncratic tales exploring life’s back alleys.
Their live performances are distinctive and amusingly entertaining, both musically and in their between-song banter. Väisänen invariably delivers, with spoken interludes that rank among Finland’s finest—reminiscent, at their best, of the storytelling flair of Bruce Springsteen or Willie Nelson.
